MEMBERS of St Michael's in Burtonwood have raised thousands of pounds in donations to help cover the cost of the restoration work on the church.

More than £4,700 was donated as part of St Michael's Day and Gift Day, which was reintroduced into Burtonwood in 2013 as a means of helping to finance the £10,000 roof repairs and internal restoration.

But, in 2014, it was discovered that further work was needed to the tune of £16,000 and church members have been raising funds in a bid to return the church to its former glory.

The generous donations were also made in celebration of the licensing of Reverend Canon June Steventon as priest in charge of St Michael's and All Angels in Burtonwood and Collins Green.
