A GREEN-fingered giveaway in Latchford will mark the restart of a council recycling scheme.
Free compost will be on offer from the car park in Victoria Park this Saturday to all as the garden waste collection service starts up again on Tuesday.
The compost will be loose so anyone wanting some will need to bring a shovel and either buckets or heavy duty bags.
Clr David Keane, executive board member for environment and public protection, said: “We would like to thank everyone for their support for the garden waste service and since it began we have collected and composted over 87,000 tonnes of waste, which is fantastic. There is a limited amount of compost available during the giveaway so come down early before it runs out.
“We will also have a limited supply of free home compost bins for your garden. All we ask is that you stay for a short talk on how to home compost. Staff will be available all morning to give help and advice on how to compost and recycle your waste.”
The compost is being supplied by Whitemoss, the company that composts the town’s garden waste.
