SHOPPERS had a go at drumming at a charity event to fund a volunteer expedition to Africa this summer.

Eight Birchwood College students plan to carry out community work with poverty-stricken families.

They will also participate in environmental and conservation projects as well as building much-needed facilities.

Each need to raise £3,500 and have organised charity events to pay their way.

They raised £1,000 at Birchwood Shopping Centre where Drumroots held drumming workshops, Wolfie helped to promote a raffle with prizes including a Warrington Wolves shirt.

Other attractions included home-baked cakes, temporary tattoos and music by band, Conquer Rio.

The students still need help to reach their target. To make a donation or offer sponsorship call Birchwood College on 835000.
