A DEFIBRILLATOR has been installed outside the Scout Hut in Culcheth to give members of the public access to the potentially life-saving device.
Situated outside the premises on Jackson Avenue, the team at Bents Garden and Home – which was recently named as the 2017 Best Destination Garden Centre in the North West by the Garden Centre Association - provided £600 to pay for external defibrillator cabinet.
The cabinet can be accessed by inserting a code given by the emergency services.
Matthew Bent, managing director at Bents Garden and Home: “We’ve had a defibrillator here at Bents for several years, which has been used on more than one occasion so we’re very aware of the benefits such a piece of equipment can provide.
“Providing access to something similar in a public place, which can be accessed quickly in an emergency could help save more lives.
"We’re delighted that we have been able to help with such a fantastic facility for our local community.”
Scout committee member, Darron Rathbone, also thanked Engineering Services for strengthening the cabinet and J&K Electrical Contractors for fitting it.
He added: "It's been a real community effort and one which we think will think will be of huge benefit for the people of Culcheth."
