BIRCHWOOD High School pupils learnt what it would be like if they couldn't hear their favourite song or the laughter of their friends.
Students discovered more about childhood deafness when they climbed aboard the National Deaf Children's Society's 'Listening Bus'.
They also met youngsters from other schools who are deaf or hearing impaired who also came to Birchwood to visit the bus.
The visit was organised by Helen Andrews who works as a communication support worker for a Birchwood pupil who is deaf.
She also recently worked with music teacher Kevin McCabe to teach the whole of Year 7 to sign along to a song they performed at the harvest celebration and she has launched a regular school signing club.
