‘A PARTY in the woods’ was thrown in Risley Moss to celebrate the launch of The Mersey Forest Plan.

Warrington North MP Helen Jones opened the event, which was part of the annual Green Safari Day.

Activities included willow weaving, African drumming and bracelet and seed-bomb making, with the soundtrack to the carnival provided by solar-powered music.

Dance group Fusion also performed in the sunshine.

Helen was met by Mersey Forest’s Paulo Nolan, who was recently awarded the OBE for services to forestry, and Dr Paul Speake, chairman of the Risley Moss Action Group.
