ST Rocco's Hospice is still enjoying the Christmas spirit after residents helped raise more than £12,500 for the charity this month after having their trees collected.

Now in its third year, the appeal proved to be the most successful to date - with the total number of Christmas trees collected topping the 1200 mark.

Through the windy January conditions, 80 volunteers from Warrington Borough Council, Ground Level, Golden Gates Housing Trust, BT Skips, White Moss and Shades of Green helped residents wave an official goodbye to the Christmas trees.

The firs will now be turned into compost, and all funds raised will help the Bewsey hospice provide vital care and continue to support people with life-limiting illnesses.

“We are delighted with the success of this year’s collection," said Pam Massey, St Rocco's CEO.

"We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who donated, our volunteers, and to the Warrington businesses that provided us with such fantastic support and we look forward to offering the service again next year."
