Youth group member creates winning logo for community partnership

THE Latch Ford big Local Partnership has a new logo thanks to a talented teen.

The partnership put out the call for its own design and creative Westy senior youth group member Shania Talbot’s design was chosen as the favourite.

The new logo is the latest step for the scheme which is addressing key priorities for the neighbourhood as part of the National Lottery-funded project.

Residents have been developing a Big Local Plan for the area which covers ideas about how to get more people into local jobs through to tackling poverty and debt.

The steering group, made up of people who live, work and volunteer in the Latchford East area the partnership covers unanimously chose Shania’s entry. They agreed it captured their vision of a ‘proud community that aspires to make things better together’.

Shania said: “I really like drawing and a load of us drew logos that night at the club. I never expected to win anything.”

Warrington Voluntary Action worked with members of the Westy Senior Youth Group, delivering a media workshop to get young people to think about the importance of building a strong recognisable brand for The Latch Ford Big Local Partnership.

Clr Hans Mundry (LAB – Latchford East) chairman of The Latch Ford Big Local Partnership, added: “I am pleased for the group and would like to use the logo on all our paperwork as the partnership develop a positive future for people in our community.”

The Westy Youth Club meets at Westy Community Centre, on Bridgewater Avenue, every Wednesday at 7pm.
