YOUNGSTERS at Cobbs Infant School and Nursery in Appleton have been learning about life on a farm.

Reception children at the school, on Wood Lane, were visited by Rob Cross and Helen Wainwright, from the Cheshire National Farmers' Union, this term.

Rob, from Grappenhall, brought his tractor along to give children the chance to have an in depth look at it.

The discussions delivered by the pair helped kids gain an insight into the role of a farmer and the work they do.

Rob talked to children about the wheat he grew on his farm and how it is harvested, while Helen spoke about dairy farming and the journey of milk from farms to supermarkets.

Staff said the children 'particularly loved' looking at the tractor and learning about how it is used.

At the end of the session they had the opportunity to ask questions and learned a 'great deal' from the experience.

The school has a number of events in the pipeline for the coming months.
