DISOVER the works of art by an Appleton Thorn artist and have the opportunity to buy one for yourself at an exhibition running until Sunday.

Michael Madden, aged 82, has 100 of his watercolours, acrylics, pastels and oil paintings on display at Oaklegh Lodge Farm Barn, on Barleycastle Lane.

The artist, who first found his passion while at school, returned to his love for art when he joined Warrington Art Group around the same time as moving to his 14 acre smallholding in 1991 breading pigs and sheep after a career as a research physicist.

Over that time his work has been displayed in art galleries across the town, Dunham Massey, Arley Hall and Tatton Park.

And you can also get the chance to get your own piece of work as he will be holding a Dutch Auction of his exhibits with tickets being offered for £1 each in aid of St Rocco's Hospice.

The exhibition is free to enter, runs from 10am to 5pm each day, and sale of the work is by undisclosed bids with a minimum price of £10.
