A YOUTH orchestra which has headlined at the Royal Albert Hall will be one of the key attractions at Stockton Heath Arts Festival.
A history talk this afternoon, Thursday, will kick-start the busy four-day intinery.
Attractions will continue until Sunday evening when Salsa Pa Gozar – who have performed the with bands such as the Charlatans and the Doves – will end the weekend with a true latino party.
Tudor Pole, the brainchild behind the arts event and chairman of the festival committee, said he was overwhelmed with the amount of support for the festival.
He said: “It is much bigger than last year’s and I am really looking forward to it.”
He said the festival has something for everyone and recommended Pagoda Chinese Youth Orchestra and Bench, a play showcased by Stockton Heath Writers’ Group. Both events take place on Saturday afternoon.
Up to around 50 volunteers have spent the past 11 months finding sponsors for the festival and arranging activities and amusements to build on the first festival’s success.
Rebecca Jenkinson, publicity and marketing officer, said the festival is not just for people living in the village but for everyone.
This year, Appleton’s Bridgewater High School will host a production and the fun will extend out to Grappenhall Indpendent Methodist Church, where an art exhibition will take place.
A carbon neutral teepee on Mill Lane field is one of the new additions and will host storytelling for children.
The spectacular’s main sponsors are MC2 Hair Design, of London Road and Forshaws Davies Ridgway Solicitors, along with Stockton Heath and Appleton Parish Councils.
