COFFEE mornings to reduce the isolation of all age groups have begun at an Appleton Church, with the first hailed as a big success.
The event at St Mary Magdalene's church - which will take place every Monday - is being backed by cllr Judith Wheeler (LD - Appleton), who has highlighted the sessions as a possible solution to the problem of isolation.
Coffee, tea and biscuits were provided at the first gathering - but cllr Wheeler is hoping more residents attend to enjoy the friendly environment at future sessions.
"It was a fantastic start to the event and hopefully now it goes from strength to strength," she said.
The aim of the mornings is to encourage communication among residents and it will be run jointly by members of St Mary Magdalene's, St Thomas' and St Monica's churches.
St Mary Magdalene's parish wished to thank volunteers from the area who devoted their time to ensure the morning could go ahead.
Along with refreshments given, Wi-Fi can be used for those wanting to search the web.
The event takes place from 9-11am, for further information call the church hall on 214709 or visit www.stsmm.com.
