FOLLOWING his publishing deal in November, an Appleton singer-songwriter is ready to make 2015 a year to remember after announcing plans to release his first album.

Josh Healey is currently shifting the pressures of university studies to one side as he looks to accelerate his true passion - his music career.

Following on from his two EPs, titled Lifeboats & Relationships and Lost, Found, & Lost Again, the forthcoming album - which is yet to be named - is in progress, with fans tipped to expect another journey through everyday, personal experiences.

With 5 songs already completed, the 22-year-old admits travelling from home to Aberdeen for studying commitments time and time again has been influential in his latest project.

"I think the album will be finished at the end of the year - it will be covering relationships but there won't be just love songs on there," he said.

"There is going to be more soul music in there which should be nice and will hopefully allow me to pick up some more listeners.

"I also spend a lot of time on the road when I go to university or visit London which gives me time to think about what music I want to make."

But, aside from the travelling, there has been an influx of inspiration which hits closer to home - that coming from a past relationship which has broken down.

"I was seeing someone on and off for a year but not anymore, but it was an amicable break-up," he added.

"You can't help having something like that influence you and it has 100 per cent inspired me - every writer needs that kind of influence, even if it is unintentional.

"After it, different ideas sprung forward which will make the album feel personal and vulnerable - I have not held back lyrically."

Although attention is firmly on the album launch, other things will soon be taking centre stage for Josh after it was confirmed that he will be doing a recording session for BBC's Bob Harris in February.
