A FORMER scientist who is set to commence monthly sessions to combat stress and anxiety has urged residents to set aside time to relax in their busy lives to prevent health issues.

Wendy Broad, founder of Mindful Calm, has 11 years of experience of mind-body approaches as a teacher of the 'Alexander Technique'.

Now offering mindfulness workshops to allow others to take time out, slow down and find new ways to respond to day-to-day challenges, Wendy is determined help people access greater peace and calm.

"A lot of people are very stressed or anxious and taking time out can make the world of difference," she said.

"By setting aside time to relax, the health of people is sure to benefit as by not doing so, and not listening to their body, they could get quite poorly.

"I have had quite a few people enquire about the sessions I will be putting on in Appleton, including family-oriented people who want to give their mind a break from their busy lives.

"It is beneficial to them and will help them deal with their busy schedules."

Having lived in Hartford for four years, 50-year-old Wendy, who is currently studying mindfulness at Bangor University's Centre for Mindfulness, is excited by the latest chapter of her career.

"I have done my research and thought that the area would be ideal, and it is quite easy for people from all over to get to," she added.

"People can come to the workshops to see what it is all about and decide if they want to continue coming.

"It is an important topic and I think people sometimes forget to devote time for themselves to relax."

The first session at the Appleton location will take place on January 31 at Pewterspear Green Pavilion.
