TREKKING with kit for both a summer’s day and a blizzard make Rachel Priest’s challenge all the harder.

The 32-year-old will be heading out to Iceland to tackle a 55km trek across the harsh rugged landscape of the island to help raise money for The Children’s Adventure Farm Trust.

Rachel, of Park Crescent, Appleton, is hoping to raise a bucketful of cash for the charity after discovering the work they do.

She said: “We went and had a look at the centre and it’s an amazing place for children who are disabled or terminally ill or carers.

“It gives them a break for a week to do things they otherwise wouldn’t be able to do.

“I loved it and while I was there saw the leaflet for the Iceland trek.”

Rachel has been tying in her training with fundraising at the same time with sponsored dog walks.

And the actor has also had some other novel fundraising ideas.

“Every time I was reaching the £50 mark I would make a silly video and put it on YouTube and since then people have sponsored me to do increasingly silly things for the videos,” said Rachel.

But the gruelling challenge is still going to be the hardest.

She added: “The weather is really changeable, sometimes its sunny and you can sunbathe and the next day it can be a blizzard so you have to prepare for all eventualities.

“It’s going to be light most of the day so I will be taking an eye mask or I won’t be sleeping.”
