SHOPPERS at a Lymm supermarket have chosen Lymm Youth and Community Association as its charity of the year.

Staff at Sainsbury’s held a public vote earlier this year to decide which charity should be selected to receive support for the next 12 months.

The partnership officially launched on July 31 and customers can now choose to make a donation in-store to the association, based on Bridgewater Street.

Geraldine Reynolds, from Lymm Youth and Community Association, said: “I’d like to thank everyone at Sainsbury’s in Lymm who nominated us to be the store’s new local charity partner. “I hope this partnership will raise awareness to residents about what we do and the impact we have. “We are looking forward to a successful year working with the store’s colleagues on this exciting initiative.” The charity helps village groups by providing a place to meet, including senior socials, dance classes, a film club and youth activities. Last year the supermarket raised more than £600 for the Lymm Village Hall Pre-School Nursery which will be put towards new equipment, such as cameras and a printer. Allen Wales, Sainsbury’s Lymm store manager, said: “Lymm Youth and Community Association is such a worthy cause. “We’ll be letting our customers know of our fundraising plans in-store and we hope they can join our colleagues in helping support them.”
