SQUAD NEWS: Smith names 19-man squad for St Helens clash SQUAD NEWS: Smith names 19-man squad for St Helens clash

WOLVES boss Tony Smith has left Chris Bridge and Ben Harrison out of the 19-man squad to face bitter rivals St Helens at Langtree Park on Monday, kick off 8pm.

After resting several of his first team regulars for the visit of Bradford Bulls last week, Smith has reinstated Ryan Atkins, Trent Waterhouse, Micky Higham and Brett Hodgson in the 19 that will travel to Saints on Monday evening, but has left out Bridge and Harrison due to injury concerns.

Ben Harrison suffered bruising to the ribs in the 50-22 victory over the Bulls last Sunday, while Chris Bridge is yet to recover from persistent knee problems that have plagued the centre throughout the season.

Wolves prop Paul Wood expects to be part of a crucial battle on Monday, when Wolves will defend their second place position in the Super League table against a Saints side three points adrift in third.

Wood said: "It's going to be a really even contest between two dominant forward packs.

"Saints have James Roby to play well off the back of that and they also have the size and pace out wide, very similar to ourselves.

"So it's going to be an even match and hopefully prove to be a good game.

“The Warrington away fans can make it like a home game though when we go to Saints.

"There is that much interest in the game so I'm sure it'll be a packed-out stadium and is going to be a good occasion with some fireworks on the field and plenty of singing in the stands."

Bridge or no Bridge that 19 man squad is still very strong and is capable of winning.
I would expect Bridge to play next week against Wigan if he isn't injured.

Bridge has had a few "iffy" games this season, but most I think can be put down to the niggling injury he is supposed to be carrying.
