A HEDGEHOG rescue charity has received a cash boost thanks to an oven valeting business.

Warrington Hedgehog Rescue has teamed up with Ovenu, which is based in Warrington and Widnes and will be donating five per cent of its fee from each oven clean carried out in August to the charity.

The charity provides lifeline care and rehabilitation for rescued hedgehogs to prevent the prickly animal from becoming extinct by 2025.

Virginia Jones, charity manager, said: “If we can make people more vigilant when they are using lawn mowers or strimmers in their gardens, avoiding laying slug pellets and ensuring that garden fences have spaces for our native mammals to pass under safely, they will be helping to save the hedgehog.”

Paul Clark, who runs the business, said he was delighted to help.
