THE University of Chester has risen 28 places in an influential guide.

It is now ranked 52nd nationally by the Guardian University Guide, an improvement on 80th last year.

Places were awarded based on various categories including graduate career prospects, spending per student and the staff-student ratio.

Professor Tim Wheeler, vice-chancellor, said: “This achievement recognises the tremendous efforts of staff, their professionalism and the commitment and quality of our students.

“The results indicate the University has significantly increased its overall profile which, in turn, filters down to subject level within all faculties.

“We are delighted with our placing which shows how far we have come in just a few years.”
