COMEDIAN Charlie Hale found himself juggling his comedy set with checking the progress of Premier League finale on Sunday.

Signed by Manchester City as a 16-year-old, the popular entertainer’s hopes of a career in the game were dashed by injury and illness.

But the City fan, from Cinammon Brow, was forced to miss Sunday’s title deciding win over QPR as he was working in Birmingham.

He said: “I was on stage at a boxing dinner with Terry Marsh and Herol Graham so it was a shame I couldn’t go but I had the commitment and I wasn’t going to let people down.

“I was compering with my City scarf on and with 10 minutes to go I was getting some stick.

“I kept leaving the stage to see the score.

“And when the final goal went it I was screaming so loudly.

“It was just unbelivable. I could not believe it when we were losing but the finish was amazing.

“I have sent about 10,000 texts since to United fans!”
