Locking Stumps couple celebrate landmark wedding anniversary

Ann and Joseph Thormley celebrate 60 years of wedded bliss Ann and Joseph Thormley celebrate 60 years of wedded bliss

THE course of love did not run smoothly for diamond darlings Ann and Joseph Thormley.

For the couple’s first meeting was not the most romantic one.

Ann, aged 77, said: “He knocked me off my bike and he just dashed off. I met him again later but he didn’t really apologise.”

But despite the bumpy start the pair finally married in their home town of Leamington Spa on April 26, 1952.

Joseph, aged 81, spent his life working in a factory in the town while Ann worked at Boots the chemist.

The couple had three children and moved to their Trefoil Close home in Locking Stumps in 1994 to help look after their grandchildren.

They will celebrate their anniversary with family including 14 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren at Paddington House Hotel.
