Radio star visits town

A TOP media professional dropped in to Warrington Collegiate to share his expertise with students.

Ray Paul, the man who created digital station Radio 1Xtra, spoke to aspiring DJs and sound engineers from a range of courses.

He said: “The music business is not different to any other business.

“Above all you must find a common cause with your audience to make them want to listen to your radio station, not the competition.”

The college is now planning its own inhouse radio station to be run by students.

Creative media production student Bethany Neilens, aged 17, said: “Today was fantastic, I can’t wait to get started on setting up our own radio station.”
