JUMP foot first into a world of fairtrade this weekend at Golden Square shopping centre.
Warrington Fairtrade Steering Group have arranged a fun-filled day of foot-themed events to mark fairtrade fortnight.
Shoppers can get a free foot massage from Lush staff who will be using a Fairtrade certified foot lotion which contains cocoa butter.
Like all producers who sell goods through fairtrade, these cocoa farmers receive a fair price, have better working conditions and also receive a premium which is used to improve living conditions for their whole community.
Other free footsie fun that shoppers young and old can enjoy will be foot painting to help create a huge banner, sampling delicious fairtrade foods and a chance to win a hamper of fairtrade goodies by entering the fairtrade trail competition.
Steering group member Angela Fell said: “The activities are all linked with this year’s Fairtrade Fortnight Theme ‘Take a Step for Fairtrade in 2012’.
“Visitors to the attraction will be able to register their step for fairtrade on a huge foot shaped ‘Step-o-meter’ as Warrington does its part to help reach the Fairtrade Foundation’s target of one and a half million steps taken for fairtrade in 2012.
“A step can be any action that supports fairtrade. It can be as simple as deciding to buy a fairtrade chocolate bar once a week, or a long-term supporter might take the step of encouraging a friend to regularly buy fairtrade.”
To find out more the team will be based outside Starbucks in the shopping centre.
