Drive to get youngsters fit at Warrington town centre night spot Halo

MORE than 150 young people converged on Halo on Wednesday for a unique new event.

The Wii 2 Real night saw the youngsters from seven high schools and community groups descend on the town centre night club.

The day, organised by the Warrington School Sports Partnership, aimed to target students not currently taking part in sport.

Fusion, the Warrington Wolves dancers, opened the event which gave people the chance to try out dance meets and compete on the Wii.

David Quartermain, the organiser, said the challenge is now to keep the young people interested in exercise.

He added: “We aimed to mix together great new games such as Wii’s and dance mats with equally brilliant fitness activities such as dance, rowing and boxing to give young people an exciting taste of what’s out there in Warrington.”

Coaches from the Phoenix Boxing Club, Warrington Rowing Club and the Warrington Wolves Foundation were also in attendance.
