A VALENTINE’S message highlighting domestic abuse is being issued by Cheshire Police.
Last year around 58 domestic incidents took place across Cheshire over Valentine’s Day weekend.
Posters and leaflets will be displayed around the town featuring the image of heart-shaped rose petals falling into hands, mirroring the message that victims should report domestic abuse.
ACC Phil Thompson said: “For a lot of people Valentine’s Day is just another day suffering at the hands of a partner.
“Domestic abuse is any threatening behaviour or violence. It can be psychological, physical, sexual, verbal or emotional and we know it occurs in families from all walks of life and between couples as well as to children and other family members.”
Trained officers are available to advise on all types of abuse and can help victims from the moment the case is reported until a conviction is hopefully achieved.
Confidential help is available at the WDASS on 244281. Crimes can be reported to the police on 0845 458 0000 or 999 in an emergency.
