TOILET facilities at an Orford charity have been given a ‘Secret Millionaire’ makeover.

The Long Lane Garden Centre received the donation for a new toilet development from the millionaire boss of Pimlico Plumbers, Charlie Mullins.

The entrepenuer worked as a volunteer at the charity during Channel 4 TV programme The Secret Millionaire.

Mr Mullins went undercover at the centre, posing as a charity worker eager to help out at the site. Nobody knew that he was actually an extremely wealthy businessman.

During his time with the team, who provide training and support employment for adults with learning difficulties, the millionaire was shocked by the ‘poor facilities’ and the small portable toilets which were used by both workers and visitors to the centre.

The plumbing mogul pledged his support to the Orford charity and donated cash to fund the development.

The new toilets have now been installed at the centre with employees from Mr Mullins’ company due next week to finish the plumbing and electrics.

Kathryn Jones, project co-ordinator at the centre, said: “Everyone is excited about the arrival of the new toilet block and chuffed that they are nearly ready to be used.”

The generous sponsor made his fortune after turning his one-van plumbing company, started in 1979, into a business that turns over £15 million a year and employs 168 staff.

He said: “The work the volunteers do down at the Long Lane Garden Centre is amazing. I was gobsmacked by the poor facilties.

“There was only one small portable toilet and it wasn’t pleasant or easy to use for those at the centre who have mobility problems.

“But the new loos will soon be ready to go and we will be heading back up to Warrington to add the finishing touches and ensure they are operational.

“I’m delighted we can put our skills to use to help them out.”
