A SECURE fence has been put up by the railway in Padgate in a bid to stop people trespassing on the tracks.
Fairfield and Howley councillor Paul Kenny (LAB) lobbied for the new fence to be built next to the railway bridge on Marsh House Lane after reports from nearby residents that people were walking on to the line.
Residents of Hume Street had complained that some people used it as a vantage point to throw missiles into their back gardens, Clr Kenny said.
As Network Rail was working on the bridge, he asked they add a fence to stop people getting on to the train tracks.
“While we can never rule out the possibility of individuals accessing the rail line, the fence will act as a physical barrier and will hopefully contribute to a safer and more secure railway line,” he said.
