A FITNESS instructor has joined the team at a Latchford care village to help tackle the risk of the onset of dementia.

After arriving to Belong Warrington, on Loushers Lane, at the start of the year, 27-year-old Aaron Williams has since launched an exercise project for residents.

As well as helping to reduce the onset of dementia, Aaron, who lives in Stockton Heath, is determined to improve the mobility of those at the village.

Belong's exercise studio, which is open to members of the community, features specialist equipment for the elderly.

Aaron has created personalised plans tailored to the needs of individuals - one Belong resident to benefit from the help is 84-year-old Peggy Gordon.

"I've played football all of my life and my family owned a gym when I was growing up, both of which have driven me to develop a keen interest in health and fitness," said Aaron, who plays for Grappenhall Sports FC.

"I studied sport and exercise science at Edge Hill University and it feels great to use the things that I've learned to help people living in Warrington.

"Belong is committed to helping people stay active and independent through regular exercise and I'm already seeing some terrific results from the people visiting our exercise studio."

Peggy added: "My dad was a doctor and always encouraged me and my seven siblings to take part in athletics and keep fit as youngsters - I thoroughly enjoy using the gym with Aaron, It gets my day off to a great start."
