SINCE the official opening ceremony of a state-of-the-art Latchford care village at the end of November, care and advice for residents has gone from strength to strength.

Belong Warrington, which specialises in providing support for those suffering from dementia, opened its fifth branch last year - adding to villages in Atherton, Crewe, Macclesfield and Wigan.

But aside from giving care to residents of the village, the charitable organisation, based on Loushers Lane, is branching out to the community by hosting a series of 'talk dementia' drop-in sessions.

Each will be lead by admiral nurses Caroline Clifton, who works at Belong in partnership with Dementia UK, as well as Laura Barlow.

"The new 'talk dementia' sessions will be one-to-one meetings, aimed primarily at carers and relatives of people living with dementia, where we can offer advice to anybody that feels like they need a little extra help," said Caroline.

"There are a lot of services available that we can sign-post people to and we have a wealth of experience to share, based around our work to support people living with dementia."

Operations director at Belong, Tracy Paine, believes the sessions will reassure the community that help is accessible.

“The Belong village model is designed as a community hub that offers a safe and reassuring environment for people living with dementia," she said.

"We hope the sessions will allow people that don't normally visit Belong Warrington to benefit from some of the knowledge and experience that we have acquired."

The first session will take place next Thursday from 2-4:30pm, followed by one on March 5.
