After travelling to Cyprus, Holland, Germany and Belgium throughout her remarkable life, a 90-year-old was delighted to celebrate her latest birthday in Latchford.

Now living at the state-of-the-art Belong Warrington care village, on Loushers Lane, Janet Huxley-Jones toasted the occasion just how she imagined - with a glamorous outfit and a glass of brandy and lemonade.

With relatives travelling from as far away as Spain to help her enjoy the occasion, it proved to be a day to remember.

"It was wonderful that my family were able to be with me for my birthday and that they were able to meet so many of the friends I've made since coming here," said Janet.

"I've lived a lot of different places but the move to Belong Warrington has been my best move yet."

Due to her husband, John, working with the RAF throughout his career, Janet, who worked for British Rail, has lived all over the world, before moving to Wales after retirement.

A lover of ballroom dancing and the Jeremy Kyle show, Janet moved to Belong in September after her daughter, Bronwyn, a former Care Quality Commission health and social care inspector, helped choose the location as most suitable for her mum.

"All the staff at Belong go the extra mile to ensure the comfort and happiness of those that live there," said Bronwyn.

"What a wonderful place - mum feels right at home."
