A HUGE Christian event run by a Latchford school was a hit with youngsters from across the borough.

The Boteler Big Bible Event saw almost 500 primary school pupils from years five and six visit Sir Thomas Boteler for the first event of its kind organised by the school.

Over four days the event gave youngsters the chance to walk in the footsteps of Jesus’ disciples, listening to stories from the bible, learning about his passions and resurrection.

Among the events for children included a dimly lit room replicating the last supper, a boat filled with fishes and tales from Mary Magdalene The big bible event was a collaboration between the staff and pupils of Sir Thomas Boteler CE High School, the Dioceses of Chester and Liverpool, local churches and Warrington Youth for Christ.

Headteacher Jon Sharples said: “It was thrilling to see all the pupils fully engaged and excited about Jesus and our own students, who began as helpers turning into leaders, running many of the activities by themselves towards the end of the event.

“It was an amazing demonstration of how the early church passed on the message of Jesus, not by experts but through people touched by the love of God and the glorious message of the gospel.

“Volunteers, students, staff and pupils alike have grown massively through this experience and we cannot but thank everyone who supported us in so many ways and praise God for Jesus Christ and the blessings he so graciously bestows upon us."
