Charlotte’s ‘fishtail’ design proves a winner with judges at national competition

A STOCKTON Heath hairdresser has come out on top in a national

competition to showcase their talent with tresses.

Charlotte Johnson, who works at MC2 on London Road scooped the top prize at the Young Total Beauty Awards after wowing the judges with her fishtail plait design.

The 19-year-old, of Ellesmere Road, was joined in the final by colleague Tom Price who also made it through to the final six in the country.

The competition, which took place in Bromsgrove last month, is open to stylists under the age of 25.

Judges including industry expert Jacki Wadeson, salon owner Michelle Griffin and marketing consultant and editor of Modern Barber Rachel Gould praised Charlotte.

Michelle Griffin said: “Each of our finalists demonstrated incredible skill, however we had to choose just one winner. Charlotte Johnson showed enormous talent with her curved ‘fins’ of hair and fishtail plait. It was a wonderful standard of work.”

Beverley Bates who founded the CREACTIV young artistic team and the Young Total Beauty Awards added: “The successful finalists were given 25 minutes on stage to complete their final total look before a panel of judges. They were so nervous and worked so hard and every one who took part valued the experience.”

Charlotte said: “I was shocked when I won but was really pleased with the result. It’s really amazing.

“We had done a photoshoot beforehand so I already knew the design I had to create but I did have my model in a few times before the competition to practice it over and over and it paid off.

“We have all done really well at the salon and we are so pleased to be recognized nationally.”
