A KIND-HEARTED Great Sankey girl has had her hair chopped for charity.

Chloe Holford, of Hood Lane, decided to donate 11 inches of her long locks to the Little Princess Trust, a charity which makes makes wigs for children who have lost their hair through cancer treatment or other illnesses.

After making the decision, proud mum Dawn got in touch with hairdressers in the town asking for a discount for her 13-year-old daughter but was delighted when town centre salon Jakata, on Bridge Street, offered to cut Chloe's hair for free.

Mum Dawn, aged 34, added: "About seven weeks ago she decided she wanted to do it and then found out about the charity.

"She's always had long hair so I thought she might regret getting it cut but she said now she knows it's going to a good cause and will help somebody else.

"I'm very proud of her and I was nearly crying."

The Great Sankey High School pupil went to the hairdressers on Wednesday and was complimented by staff for remaining 'calm and cool' throughout the cut.

Dawn added: "It was lovely of them to do it free of charge and she seems really happy with it.

"Her hair is so thick I think her head will feel a lot lighter when she wakes up tomorrow.

"Originally she just wanted to donate her hair but when the pack came it explained it still costs £350 to make each wig so we have set up a Justgiving page for her now so she can raise some funds too.

"She was made up when she got £37 overnight from the page being set up and anything extra we can send to the charity would be great."
