A GREAT Sankey man won the once in a lifetime chance to experience what life is like as a Liverpool footballer.

David Clarke, of Fairmont Drive, was awarded the opportunity to run out at Anfield as part of a competition organised by car company Vauxhall.

The reds fans met at the stadium in preparation for the game but were surprised on the day by former players Robbie Fowler and Jason McAteer who were their managers for the day.

David said: “It has been the most unforgettable day of my life. To have walked out that tunnel and faced the Kop wearing Liverpool colours was just indescribable.

“We were given behind the scenes access of the stadium and the trophy room before kick off.

“I think the biggest cheer of the day came when the managers were announced, we couldn’t believe it!

“It just topped off a phenomenal experience. I won’t forget this for a very long time.”

Team manager for the day Robbie Fowler said the competition winners were fantastic.

He added: “I was privileged enough to play here and it still makes my hairs stand up when you walk up those steps and on to the pitch.

“The lads were great and I’m sure they will tell their grandkids about this one day.”
