A REUNION dance will be held to mark the tenth anniversary of the closure of Safeway Distribution Centre.

The Woolston distribution centre opened in 1974 and employed over 700 people across three sites – with other depots at Winwick Quay and Risley.

It closed in 2006 following a buyout of the Safeway brand by Morrisons.

Following the closure the Safeway Employees Association decided to attempt to continue friendships and relationships from the workplace by organising an annual dance.

The tenth dance for former employees and friends will be held at the Park Hall Hotel, Charnock Richard on Saturday January 16 2016.

The evening consists of a four course silver service meal, entertainment from James Frankln and the Soul Machine and Wayne Sixsmith’s disco.

Tickets cost £35 with reduced accommodation rates at the hotel available.
