Concerns raised over fire-damaged flats in Old Hall

NEIGHBOURS of a fire-damaged block of flats in Old Hall have spoken of their frustration over the length of time it has taken to fix the properties.

The flats on Gregory Close, which are owned by Your Housing Group, have yet to be restored following the blaze on Sunday, August 31, 2014.

Around 20 firefighters were called to tackle the fire at 8.45pm and on arrival they found a well-developed fire in a first floor flat.

Ten flats were evacuated at the height of the fire before flames were put out around 11.15pm.

Cllr Keith Gleave (Whittle Hall - LD) said: "Your Housing is due to start work on fire damaged properties in Gregory Close any time now.

"They are starting to become a safety hazard with the fencing coming down. The sooner the work is completed the better.”
