Search launched to find chorus line for Burtonwood panto

REHEARSALS are under way for the next performance of the Burtonwood Amateur Music and Drama Society.

But there are still some chorus positions available for the pantomime Puss in Boots, which will be performed at St Michael's Parish Hall in Burtonwood on March 10 to 12.

Rehearsals are held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 7.30pm at Burtonwood Catholic Club on Phipps Lane.

Pensioners' party back by popular demand

THE pensioners’ party is set to return to the Burtonwood Community Centre later this year.

Tickets are on sale for the event where there will be live music from singer James Loughlin.

Doors open at 7.30pm on January 28 at the centre on Green Lane.

Tickets are £1.50 including hotpot supper and fruit pie.

Hundreds raised at charity night

MORE than £1,300 was raised during a charity night at the Burtonwood Community Centre.

Guests enjoyed a three course meal followed by music from Simon Dee.

All funds raised were donated to Macmillan Cancer Support.

 

Connectivity issues resolved in Burtonwood

INTERNET service provider Vispa has launched an investigation after certain homes were left with a loss of connectivity in Burtonwood over Christmas.

A spokesman for Vispa tweeted over the festive period to let residents know the company was working to fix the problem.

An engineer was able to sort the problem and it is understood the service has been working since.

He said: "Burtonwood issues are now resolved. We are continuing to monitor in case of further disconnections."

 

Christmas tree appeal launched in aid of Burtonwood rugby team

NEED help getting rid of your Christmas tree?

One Burtonwood dad has come with a tree-mendous idea to raise funds for Burtonwood Bulldogs ARLFC.

Posting an appeal on Facebook, Paul Westby wrote: "My son plays for the local rugby team at age 10s and I help manage it.

"After Christmas I will be doing a Christmas tree disposal service to raise money to buy the full team training gear.

"So if would like me to come and pick up you old Christmas tree for a minimum £3 donation – but more is greatly accepted – I will take it to the tip for you."
