Westbrook teen top of the class

A WESTBROOK teenager is one of only a handful of students to score 100 per cent in his English literature exam.

Earlier this year, Cronton Sixth Form student Tom Scott, aged 18, was celebrating achieving an A* in the subject.

But the news that he has scored top marks came as a surprise to the 18-year-old of Castle Green.

He said: “I was extremely pleased.

“My love for the subject has a lot to do with the class and tutor at Cronton.

“I have been inspired to study English literature at university.”

He was one of only two students at the sixth from to score full marks in the exam.

Stephanie Power, English literature tutor at Cronton Sixth Form said: “Not only have they become excellent academics, but they have left college as thoughtful and considerate young adults with a genuine passion for literature.

“They have been a privilege to teach and I have no doubt that each of them will continue to thrive.”

THE Mayor of Warrington has praised the work of the Burtonwood Sewing Group.

Cllr Geoff Settle, who enlisted the help of the club to make two teddy bear mascots for his year in office, has called on members of the public to help the group to continue to grow.

He said: "The sewing club has gone from strength to strength and has enabled great friendships and regular workshops for its members to learn and make some incredible things.

"They have even got a new site to move to and are raising funds for a portakabin to go on the site as part of their development plan.

"The premises will incorporate other craft activities."
