Farm house conversion refused

BLUEPRINTS to transform an agricultural building in Burtonwood into a house have been refused by the council.

The planning application for Forest Farm on Tan House Lane was turned down by planners as the proposal is not a permitted development.

Council leader Terry O'Neill had objected to the plans due to a number of concerns including use of green belt land, access arrangements and proximity to a public footpath.

In a letter published on the planning section of the council section, Cllr O'Neill (Burtonwood and Westbrook - LAB) wrote: "They were only allowed to build this agricultural building because it was a certain distance from the road – Tan House Lane – and its use was for agricultural purposes only.

"The applicant is now trying to get round green belt policy by turning this agricultural barn into a residential property.

"The access off Tan House Lane is very dangerous and I fail to see how they can get to this property safely off Tan House Lane.

The public footpath – locally known as Sam’s Track – is right next to this development and access arrangements need to be maintained."
