THEY may still be in primary school but four friends have proved themselves as role models for the future after raising £450 for The Christie.

Nine-year-old Erin Ivey was inspired to do her bit after her dad Martin, a medical electrics engineer, took her along to his appointment at the cancer hospital.

Erin's mum Sam said: "She was chatting to all the nurses and when she came home she said she didn't realise there were so many sick people and she wanted to do something to help.

"I didn't think anything of it until she stood up and told everyone about it at school assembly."

Erin convinced her friends Amy Groves and Chloe and Emelia Wright, all aged nine, to help her and they have so far raised £450 through a sponsored 10-mile bike ride and bake sale at Gorse Covert Primary School."
