ST Monica's Catholic Primary School's new head teacher is ready to lead children and staff to 'new heights'.

Annette Norman, who has worked at the Appleton school, on St Monica's Close, for 20 years is relishing the new role following her official appointment at the end of last month.

But she admits there is no time to rest as she looks to turn her vision into a reality.

Mrs Norman said: "I have worked here for 20 very happy years – but if you asked me two years ago if I was interested in a headship I would have said 'no'.

"I love the classroom and always have. However, since I have been the acting head teacher, I have grown to love the role.

"By working with incredibly gifted staff, children who are just a delight, totally committed governors and parents who love the school and are always willing to help, I have realised this is a role I am honoured to take on.

"I am determined to bring as much energy, enthusiasm and innovation to the future of St Monica's as any new head should.

"I will be combining that determination with my deep knowledge of the school to lead us to new heights.

"We as a team are excited to be moving into a time of renewal."

Mrs Norman also wished previous head teacher Angela Williams 'all the best in her future challenges'.
