GUESTS at a Stockton Heath restaurant enjoyed a taste of India while raising £3,200 for a charity which helps youngsters with disabilities achieve their potential.

Cardamon, on London Road, hosted an inspirational night of fundraising on behalf of Brainwave North West and Abbie Heaney, who suffers from Rett syndrome.

All in attendance heard Abbie's mum, Sarah, provide an update on her daughter's progression following her battle with the rare condition.

The event, which was sponsored by Birchwood Shopping Centre, was also attended by Tim Stimpson, a former British Lion and Warrington Wolves chief executive Roger Draper – both gave talks and took on a question and answer session.

Joanne Freeman, Brainwave's community manager, said: "Brainwave's therapy centre receives no funding from the Government or the NHS.

"We are very grateful to the community and companies for their continued support to help the children we work with."
