IT is celebration time for Lumb Brook Millennium Green (LBMG) in Appleton after it received a double boost.

As well as receiving a Green Flag award the charity, which is based around the Cobbs Estate, has had six wooden tables, including benches, installed to help it host future events.

Funding was provided by the neighbourhoods in Warrington South area board, while the equipment was made and delivered by the Walton Lea Partnership.

Julie Kueres, director of LBMG, praised all involved for their efforts and is looking forward to forming a budding relationship with Walton Lea.

"We are all so pleased to have been supported by neighbourhoods in Warrington, this seating area will provide an outdoor education facility for schools and voluntary groups and being situated alongside the festival green area will be ideal for community events," she said.

"It will also be welcomed for use as an informal picnic area.

"The team from Walton Lea did a fantastic job and are wonderful to work with, we'll certainly be working with them again in the future.

"Many thanks also to the volunteers who did the installation works, their help was much appreciated."

Fellow directoreVal Davies added: "We are absolutely delighted to have received a Green Flag award from Keep Britain Tidy."

Lumb Brook Millennium Green is among 1,582 parks and green spaces that have received the prestigious award, which honours quality parks or green spaces.
