MP shows support for heritage and ecology trail

AN MP has shown her support for plans to create a heritage and ecology trail in Woolston.

Warrington North MP Helen Jones joined parish councillor Ian Johnson and members of the New Cut Heritage and Ecology Trail Group for a walk around the site.

The MP was shown the progress which has been made in developing the site and discussed the plans the group have for future works.

She said: “This project is of real significance. The industrial heritage being uncovered is impressive.

“Progress on turning the site into a heritage and ecology trail has been good but there is more to do. I hope that more local people will become involved.“

The group held an open day at the Woolston Community Hub where people will be able to learn more about the importance of the river and canal.

Visitors were able to learn about the group’s aims for the Woolston, Paddington and Paddington Bank wildlife corridor of the former New Cut canal, the new Ecology Park location and Paddington Meadows.

Hospice holds fundraising fashion show

Warrington Guardian:

CLOTHES from shops across Warrington have been on display at a charity fashion show.

The sell-out event was held at Orford Jubilee Neighbourhood Hub on March 19 and raised more than £1,600 for the St Rocco’s hospice.

As well as volunteer models showing off the outfits, there were stalls selling accessories and a raffle, and all the clothes were also for sale.

Everything from the venue to the table decorations were donated for free, meaning every penny of the money raised will go direct to helping the hospice care for patients and their families in Warrington.
