Noise row

RESIDENTS have hit back over claims there are no longer noise problems as the police training camp at Bruche is redeveloped.

As revealed in the Warrington Guardian, Poulton with Fearnhead Parish Council said there had been no noise complaints for several months.

However, neighbours said it was because they had got fed up making complaints to no avail.

Jackie Sharrock, of Westover Road, said: "This infers the constant noise has stopped but in fact in hasn't.

"Perhaps residents can't be bothered anymore.

"This last week they have been using diggers right at the back of our property to lay what we think is a large drain.

"Once or twice they appeared dead on the dot of 8am, lights blazing.

"They are still working there now and some banging from the bucket of a large digger has been shaking the house.

"I just wanted to tell how it really is for us down Westover Road."

The site is being developed into housing.

Ecology trail help needed

ANYONE wanting to help improve the New Cut Heritage and Ecology Trail can get involved in some gardening on Saturday.

The focus group working to revamp the area off Manchester Road will be planting seeds in the wild flower meadow next to the canal.

Meet at the meadow, which is in the ecology park section, roughly 100m from the recycling site.

Helpers are asked to bring a small gardening fork if they have one.

The session runs from 10.30am - 1pm.

Anyone wanting to find out more about the trail group can go to a meeting at Woolston Neighbourhood Hub, Hall Road, on Monday.

It starts at 5.30pm.

Ofsted praise

A CLUB at Beamont Primary School that offers children activities before and after school has been praised by Ofsted.

Run by a private provider, Beamont Wasps Link Club, organises a variety of sessions for youngsters.

Ofsted said: "Children's ideas are respected and valued.

"This gives them a real sense of ownership and they are confident and independent.

"Partnerships with parents are good.

"Staff ensure that relationships with children and their families are well-established, ensuring that children's individual needs are well met.

"Staff know individual children well, enabling children to feel secure and form trusting relationships.

"Children are confident individuals who behave well.

"As a result, they play harmoniously together, taking turns to share resources."

To improve, Ofsted said staff could use daily routines better to help children to develop their independence.

Tree thinning

POULTON with Fearnhead Parish Council will spend £850 to remove a problematic tree on Bennetts Rec.

The sum, which also includes other small amounts of tree maintenance, will see a lombardi poplar chopped down.

And Warrington Borough Council has outlined tree management work in Woolston Park.

The council's tree thinning programme includes maintenance carried being out between Manchester Road and Holes Lane.

Residents close to the work have been informed, it said.
