A CHEERLEADING squad from University Academy Warrington finished top of the pyramid at a regional tournament.
The Academy Twisters, made up of students from all age groups at the school on Insall Road, Padgate, won first place at the British Cheerleading Association’s Northern Championship.
Hundreds of cheerleaders took to the competition floor to put on dazzling displays; performing athletic routines that involved throwing each other in the air, twisting and tumbling and forming human pyramids, with UAW’s senior team coming out on top.
The event took place at the Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle.
