POLICE have released an efit after a man was left with multiple slash wounds after being attacked by a masked intruder last Saturday night.

The 35-year-old tackled one of three attackers at 8.10pm on April 26 at his home on Clay Lane in Burtonwood.

He was asleep when he heard his 58-year-old mother screaming. Three men, all masked, came into the house with knives and a hammer and one attacked the 35-year-old.

He suffered a severe injury to his index finger, a three inch cut to his left high and minor cuts to his stomach and back.

While he was struggling with the attacker, a second man searched the upstairs and a third waited downstairs with his mother.

They left and escaped in a blue Rover 75, driven by a fourth man.

Anyone with information should call DC Alison Howarth on 01244 613831 or Crimestoppers in confidence on 0800 555111.
