Good sports compete to win medals

2:09pm Monday 10th September 2001

TWO hundred people from adult resource centres took to the athletics field to compete in this year's sports day for adults with disabilities.

Competitors from the Carlton, Smerdon and Ken Boyce centres in Bexley joined sports men and women from three centres in Greenwich and Bromley for the event, which was held at Erith athletics stadium.

Fifteen track and field events presented spectators with some gritty performances and close finishes.

The overall winner was the Carlton centre from Sidcup, which chalked up 99 points, followed closely by Smerdon centre from Belvedere.

The day, organised by Bexley's adult resource centre and leisure development staff, finished with the medal presentations.
