ON October 22, casually-dressed young people flooded the Town Hall in search of political enlightenment – open for one-night-only to the public for speed debating, which is essentially what it says on the tin.

Thirteen tables, each with different people allocated to sit in the centre, while young people attending seat themselves on the outside. After a three-minute one-to-one chat, the young people move on to the next table.

The idea was a chance to meet and question a variety of people, including councillors from many wards of Warrington, heads of transportation and building, and even the Mayor and his wife, all of whom were very approachable and welcomed the questions.

The occasion ran quickly and smoothly and proved very eventful and engrossing. I would attend again, and advise other young people to do the same.
