LYMM chef Aiden Byrne is back in the Great British Menu kitchen on Monday for a Comic Relief Challenge.

The Church Green British Grill chef is battling out against opponents Mary Ellen Mctague from Aumbry restaurant in Prestwich and Chris Holland from the Alderly Edge Hotel in the BBC Two show from Monday until Friday next week, each night at 7.30pm.

Judging them all week is Phil Howard from the two Michelin starred restaurant ‘The Square’ in London.

One of them will win through to the finals where they’ll be up against seven other regional winners all determined to cook at the Great British Menu Comic Relief Banquet at the Royal Albert Hall.

Aiden said: “It’s my fourth attempt at Great British Menu and I am determined to go even further this year.

“I love the theme of the challenge and have spent lots of time developing my dishes in order to stand out from the other competitors.

“I think viewers will be surprised, inspired and entertained all at the same time!”

This year also sees the first ever Menu Relief where hundreds of restaurants across the UK come together to give people the chance to donate while dining out.

Aiden said: “At The Church Green British Grill we’re delighted to take part in the fundraiser which will run until March 15, with at least £2.50 from every Menu Relief menu going to Comic Relief – helping to make a difference to people both here in the UK and across Africa.”

Fish course: "The culinary joke" (Prawn cocktail)
